This was the quiet scene on the dock at Cow Bay this morning. The Mega Yacht, Stardust was still in place, but leaving later today. In back of us was a Holland America Cruise ship that arrived early this morning.
The 54 Nordic Tug boat behind us left this morning heading south. Their home port, like us, is Anacortes. They have not made that many 54ft Nordic Tugs, so it was fun to see it in action.
Once they left our sailing friend, Dave moved inside the harbor behind our boat. We met Dave in Meyer’s Chuck and we have been training south together for the past few days.
Prince Rupert is a nice town. There are good restaurants and today we visited the city museum. Definitely worth a visit.
We discovered a great trail about a mile out of town heading east.
The Rushbrook Trail is a 1.8 mile out and back trail. Recently reopened this is a beautiful trail featuring. Bridges and walkway along the waters edge. At the end of the trail you can continue to walk around the small lake. When you are done stop by the famous fish and chip take out, Bob’s on the Rocks.
We are staying here one more day before we continue south. There was one weather model (the European Model on Predict Wind) showed a big blow of up to 28 knots lasting most of the day and into the evening on Saturday. However, the two other models we use predicted relatively calm seas! We discussed our options, and neither one of us really wanted to get caught out in rough seas, especially in the relatively open waters just out of Price Rupert! We are not in that big of a hurry so we are going to err on the side of caution and stay put for one more day.
