With Marlene at the helm we set anchor in Bottleneck around 1:45 pm. We are the only boat in the inlet and we suspect this will remain the case for the night. We left Shearwater around 7:30 for our 5.5 hour cruise. It was a beautiful cruise through Jackson Pass.

We had lunch along the way. Marlene’s prepared a nice Cheese and Cracker plate.

Based on our view of Marine Traffic it appears that there will be a full house of boats on the dock at Shearwater tonight. Last night there were two. We had the pleasure of meeting one boat of four “weekend” fishermen who shared some of their freshly prepared King salmon. Wow, what a treat. The only thing I had in return was a jar of my “critically acclaimed” (by me) Guemes BlackBerry jam. They said it was a fair trade.
The rest of this afternoon will be spent doing boat projects. I need to find out why the shower float pump isn’t working, which isn’t a big deal because we can still drain the shower with the gray water switch. More of an annoyance. Second project is removing the kitchen sink faucet head and look for calcium buildup which is preventing us from getting good hot water flow. If there is time left over I will dig into my book, “Your Absence is Darkness,” the latest book by the Icelandic author Jon Kalman Stefansson. It was highly recommended to me by a fellow book club member Jim Gore. Great read so far. Very much a philosophical, well written, brooding book. Must come from all those long winter nights. Marlene is down in the stern bilge cleaning house. I’m staying clear.
That’s it for now. We will check our weather reports for tomorrow and go from there.
I just read through every blog, a very enjoyable read. I would not do well with the 4-5 ft swells but it sounds like you both have great sea legs. I look will now forward to reading your blog each day. Wishing you calm seas and sunshine.☀️ Nancy
You are well on the way!
I can testify to the quality of Greg’s jam. I was the lucky recipient of strawberry and rhubarb. Delish.
